Laura Castello
Owner of SEND Support Service
I hold a degree in Psychology, a PGCE & QTS in primary & secondary education, a NASEN Certificate in SEND, a NCFC CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health and have taught in both mainstream and specialist settings. I have particular experience working with children who have not been able to access and engage in education provision due to social, emotional and mental health, neurodevelopmental conditions and complex learning needs.
My experiences as a mother of two children – with co-morbid SEND needs and diagnoses – and as a teaching professional have given me great insight and sensitivity to work with parents and professionals. My experiences include providing support and advice to parents regarding the SEND processes and procedures as per the SEND Code of Practice 2015. This includes working with education, health and social care professionals. I have received training from IPSEA and also worked in a voluntary role for IASS supporting parents in preparation for, and during meetings.
