Creating Pathways
&
Bringing Change

Our ethos at SEND Support Services is to work one to one with parents to empower them with knowledge and skills to enable them to navigate their way through the SEND system. We work in co-production with parents/carers to support them to analyse professional reports, write their own reports and emails and prepare for meetings. We also offer support in meetings if required. We have found that by working in this way and taking the journey through the SEND system together, parents feel stronger and more confident in their ability to advocate for their child's needs allowing their child the opportunity to meet their full potential.

WHO WE ARE

SEND Support Services offers parents an advice & support service around SEND and if required work as an independent parental supporter during meetings with schools and other professionals involved with the child.  I hold a degree in Psychology, a PGCE & QTS in primary & secondary education, a NASEN Certificate in SEND, a NCFC CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health and have taught in both mainstream and specialist settings. I have particular experience working with children who have not been able to access and engage in education provision due to social, emotional and mental health, neurodevelopmental conditions and complex learning needs. My experiences as a mother of two children – with co-morbid SEND needs and diagnoses – and as a teaching professional have given me great insight and sensitivity to work with parents and professionals. My experiences include providing support and advice to parents regarding the SEND processes and procedures as per the SEND Code of Practice 2015. This includes working with education, health and social care professionals. I have received training from IPSEA and also worked in a voluntary role for IASS supporting parents in preparation for, and during meetings.
